INTERNATIONAL COMPOSITION CONTEST
LAVAGNINO 2008

sixth edition

REGULATIONS

art. 1
The Classical Orchestra of Alessandria with the support of the Piedmont Regione and the cooperation of the Conservatory "A. Vivaldi" of Alessandria, in memory of the Maestro A.F. Lavagnino, has set up the sixth edition of the International Soundtrack Contest "LAVAGNINO 2008".

art. 2
The contest will take place in Alessandria (elimination session) and the final evening of the prize-giving by the Auditorium "Pittaluga" of the Conservatory "A. Vivaldi" of Alessandria on Tuesday 23 December 2008, within the 8th edition of the International Festival Angelo Francesco Lavagnino "Music and Cinema".

art. 3
Composers of any age and country can take part in the competition.

art. 4
The juries verdict is final with no appeal; the jurie members are:
Luis Bacalov (composer - teacher of composition of Film Music at the Academy Chigiana of Siena)
Luigi Giachino (composer - teacher at the University of Turin, musical responsible for Extracampus TV)
Eugenio Buonaccorsi (teacher at the University of Genoa and headmaster of Dams of Imperia)
Federico Erminio (composer - headmaster of the Conservatory "A. Vivaldi" of Alessandria)
Fred Ferrari (arranger)
Eugenio Buonaccorsi (Teacher of History of the Theatre and Spectacle by DAMS of Imperia)
Luciano Girardengo (cellist - artistic director of the contest).
The jury can also indicate, with a special mention, other candidate plays of particular value.

art. 5
The competitors will have to realize background music for a cinema sequence of about 4 minutes, there is a choice of two which will be sent from the organization on CD-ROM which have to be received, on DVD video or CD-ROM (*.mpg - *.mov - *.wmv - *.avi), or, on demand, by e-mail (*.mov - *.wmv) to the address: info@mediadvdvideo.com, within Wednesday 10th December 2008 (at the address mentioned in the art. 7) with a sample of your completed work synchronised with the chosen cinema sequence, together with the full score, undersigned and the possible staccatos must be legible for a correct performance.

art. 6
The works, which have not to be bound to a specific line up, must be for a maximum of string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello), piano, double bass (with bow or nipped), percussions (Bass drum, Floor tom, 2 Tom, 1 Snare, 1 Hi-hat, 1 Crash cymbal, 1 Ride cymbal), considering that the score must be pertinent and executable in short times by the organic suggested and playable with a small number of proofs (like always in these cases).

art. 7
Registration - The competitors entries will have to be sent within Wednesday 1st October to "Concorso Internazionale di Composizione "LAVAGNINO 2008". c/o Associazione Alexandria Classica, Via U. De Foro 4, 15100 Alessandria and should include the following material:
curriculum vitae, 2 recent photos, name, surname, place and date of birth, nationality, address, telephone and entrance fee of (euro) 50,00 to credit on the bank account 19305 Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria, (IBAN CODE: IT05W0607510404000000019305) of the Alexandria Classica Association via U. De Foro, 4 - 15100 Alessandria.

art. 8
The winners will receive the following prizes:

"LAVAGNINO 2008"
Plaque offert by ACCADEMIA MUSICALE CHIGIANA, diploma and education grant of (euro) 1.300,00 and 1 performance in the course of the concert season 2009 of the Classical Orchestra of Alessandria.

2nd prize
plaque, diploma and education grant of (euro) 800,00 and 1 performance in the course of the concert season 2009 of the Classical Orchestra of Alessandria.

3rd prize
plaque, diploma and education grant of (euro) 600,00.

4th prize
plaque and diploma.

5th prize
plaque and diploma.

The winners will be then pointed out to Festivals and Production Agencies.
In progress some other contacts with prestigious musical Institutions to get possible new prizes.

art. 9
The entry to the contest involves the unreserved acceptance of these regulations. The prize giving and the performance in a public concert with the winning compositions will take place in Alessandria, by the Auditorium "M. Pittaluga" of the Conservatory "A. Vivaldi", on December 23th 2008 at 21, at the presence of the juries.

art. 10
For any dispute bear witness to the Italian text and the case would fall within the jurisdiction of Alessandria courts.
